Muruga!’
Muruga is one of the most fascinating deities in Hindu mythology. Worshipped across India – particularly in the south – and beyond the subcontinent, in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore, the idea of Muruga is of a complex god.
He is eternally young, yet unfathomably wise; a braveheart commander with the looks and charm of a lover; literate in the arts and also skilled in the use of arms. He is one, He is many.
In this evening of South Indian classical dance – called Bharatanatyam – dancer Meenakshi Ravi and a quartet of some of the UK’s best known South Indian musicians will take you on a journey of exploration. The recital will showcase the intricate beauty and narrative nuance of Bharatanatyam. Meenakshi and the musicians alongside her have designed an evening of poetry, music and choreography to reveal different shades and facets Lord Muruga.
This is a family show suitable for all ages however suggested minimum age is 6 years

About the Artists
Meenakshi Ravi is a Bharatanatyam dancer whose style is defined by a natural grace, technical discipline and intellectual sensitivity. She teaches Bharatanatyam in London and also works as a broadcast journalist.
Meenakshi will be accompanied by her Bharatanatyam guru Pushkala Gopal who will conduct the evening’s recital, Carnatic singer and prolific performing artist Vamshi Krishna Vishnudas, acclaimed South Indian percussionist Prathap Ramachandra and Vijay Venkat, a multi-skilled musician of unique talent who will be on the flute.
